2016 Helmsford Watervale Riesling – VINTAGE OVERVIEW – Vintage 2016 turned out to be one of the best for some years, in spite of some extreme weather events. Good August rain with a nice top up in September and less, but well timed rains in October and November gave indications of a perfect year. No rain in December and just one heavy event in January reversed our opinion as quite some searing heat struck our region. We were so pleased to find great flavor development and quite even ripening which always augers well for quality. And we were not disappointed. This Watervale Riesling has lovely lifted floral aromas, balanced with fresh citrus flavors on the palate. Enjoy with all types of fish & crustation dishes served with the juice of fresh grilled lemons. The name ’Helmsford’ is the property name of our Watervale vineyard, known for producing consistent high quality and slightly softer fruit than the Polish Hill River Vineyards.
