Grenache
Aussie Grenache, long been the quiet brother to the “Chest out” Shiraz grape making all the noise, we consider Grenache is more the backbone of the Australian wine industry.
Grenache was the grape of choice historically for our Fortified foundations back in the 1800’s, which few know about.
Australian has the oldest Grenache vines in the world, often bush vines and low yielding, but now starting to gain the accolades it deserves.
Popular with the new generation of wine drinkers, with bright fruit, flavor that just jumps out.
When you think of Aussie Grenache , think back patio, summer’s day, Picnics, Angus and Julia Stone, and a Pair of Thongs ( Flip Flops for our American mates!)
The roots of Grenache can be found in Chateauneuf-du-pape and Cotes du Rhone in France, and now the Spanish have grabbed the limelight with this amazing grape, but don’t be distracted by the noise, Aussie Grenache is hear to stay , we have the history and the the new wave of Grenache drinkers world wide.
G.S.M , the Rhone blends that Australia became famous for in the 90’s were all founded on Grenache
