Description
2017 Karrawatta Crazy Bunch Cabernet Shiraz
is an iconic South Australian Cabernet Shiraz grown from our beautiful vines in Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale. ‘Crazy Bunch’ represents the coming together of our families and the blending of personalities in our home.
Selected parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz were picked from, our vineyard just off the Angas River in Langhorne Creek. These were combined with a small parcel of Shiraz from our Ace of Trumps Vineyard in McLaren Vale.
The three batches were separately crushed, fermented and barrel-aged in small French oak barriques for approximately 16 months (30% new oak).
The wine shows very fresh flavors of blackcurrants and spicy raspberries from the Langhorne Creek components and
an attractive rich plummy flavor and soft tannins from the McLaren Vale Shiraz Red Wine.
This is a time honored blend, combining the structure and freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon with the generous fruit-sweet flavours and soft tannins of Shiraz.
Skillful maturation in small French oak adds subtle notes of cedar and tobacco.
Ready for enjoyment now, however, the wine can be cellared for 5+ years.
